Weddings

The sacred joining of the man and woman in Holy Matrimony is called by the Prayer Book, "an honourable estate, instituted of God, signifying the mystical union that is betwixt Christ and his Church." (BCP 300)

For Anglican Catholics, marriage creates a life-long sacramental bond which cannot be dissolved. This requires dilligence on the part of the couple as well as the Church in ensuring that the proper thought, investigation, and preparation is achieved. As such, the rector requires couples considering matrimony to contact the parish as soon as possible. A course of marriage preparation and instruction is required. This can normally be done in three months, but longer periods are often necessary depending on the individuals involved. At least one of the intended parties must be a member in good standing in the Anglican Catholic Church. Saint Stephen's does not allow the use of the church by non-members for weddings.
